The Beast Next Door Calendar of Events.
All of the fun, danceable energy of traditional surf rock with some unexpected twists. The Vibrojets style is defined not just by its unusual instrumentation, prominently featuring Tommy Mattioli's masterful vibraphone playing, but by the broad stylistic paletter that embraces samba, hard rock, reggae, ska, jazz and classic pop. The rhythm section, featuring bassist Greg Stadnyk and drummer Dan Habu, nimbly navigates through a dizzying rand of styles, while guitarist Andrew Wendel constantly flashes from lead to rhythm in innovative arrangements of familiar tunes and imaginative, genre-busting originals.

Beecher’s Fault creates music that is a catchy hybrid of folk rock and synth pop. Think Wilco meets Passion Pit. They come from beautiful Astoria, New York. The leaders of the band, Ken Lamken and Ben Taylor, met in New Jersey a few years back before they booked it to NYC to seek out the limelight after realizing their musical compatibility. Max Maples (drums), Lauren Hunt (Backing Vocals) and Serge Ruccolo (Bass) now complete the quintet that has been said to have live performances that produce a “wall of sound” complemented by “raw, honest lyrics” and “pristine vocal harmonies”.
As the Examiner puts it: “Their lyrics are visceral, their melodies catchy; in short, you will have their songs stuck in your head for quite a while.” In 2015 they completed their third EP, "Do As People Do". The song "Matchstick Kings" was recently featured in the trailer of "The Outfield" starring Nash Grier, Cameron Dallas, and Joey Bragg. In 2016 they released a new single, "Like Cartoons". The music video made it on to the PIx11 NYC evening news!
Fisty’s hypnotizing riffs are accentuated by Lola Johnson’s soulful singing which can go from smooth as silk down to a bestial growl. Riding high on whiskey fumes, the four piece creates a musical conversation with one another that propels you from 70s hard rock to early 90s grunge.
"A Party Volcano ... Get your dose of funk-bluegrass-rock and blue-eyed soul." -The Village Voice
MAMA JUKE is a gumbo of New Orleans influenced blues, blue-eyed soul, funk, and folk. Actor/singer Elijah Bridges (Jessica Jones) brings elements of bluegrass and rag with his soulful harmonica, acoustic guitar, and voice. Amos Rose is a world traveling multi-lingual multi-instrumentalist who also sings and plays lead Telecaster guitar, and was recently featured by Jazz at Lincoln Center Doha. Pete O'Neill is an in-demand session musician, teacher, and bassist recently featured in the New York Times. Drummer Jon Wert and percussionist ninja Titus Tompkins are sought-after drummers in the NYC scene. The result is a four-part-harmony freight train just a-hummin' down the rails. The band has original music as well as a crowd-pleasing repertoire of cover songs. They've held a weekly residency at East Village Social, a St. Marks music hub in the heart of the East Village, since September 2015.
